Traditional Wedding Gifts
Some people like to be modern and buy
the newest gadgets for their loved ones, while others are the
more traditional type, preferring to buy traditional wedding
gifts that meant a great deal decades ago as well as now.
So if you are one of those individuals who likes to be
traditional and wants to go the way of years past, here are
some suggestions for the milestone anniversary years.
First Anniversary: Paper
The first anniversary is an important milestone and if you
can make the first anniversary, the rest should be a complete
breeze.
Traditionally, the gift for this year is paper, which may seem
like an odd item to give your spouse. However, if you think
outside of the box, you can create some truly memorable
gifts.
First, there is the art of origami. You can create an entire
herd of his or her favorite animals and paint them for her. As
well, you can practice the art of the scrapbook by creating a
collage of all your memories together over the past year.
Something else that can be given with paper is a poem or song,
composed by you, for him or her, to show your love.
Fifth Anniversary: Wood
As you come to the half-decade marker of your marriage, the
traditional wedding gift of choice is wood. If you have a touch
of the handyman or woman in you, then you can create a
decorative item out of wood, whether it be something for the
wall or a plaque with your faces etched into it. You can also
look at buying antique furniture.
A great way to celebrate your fifth year together is to plant a
tree. This gift will give you something to go to on your 10th,
20th, 30th, 40th and 50th wedding anniversaries as you watch it
grow as high and as strong as your love.
Tenth Anniversary: Tin or Aluminum
Well you did it, you reached the decade marker and now it is
time to look at giving a gift of tin or aluminum to your
spouse. As odd as it may seem, there are plenty of gifts you
can give that are comprised of tin or aluminum. First ,there
are vases or candleholders that will look great in any house,
while there are a large amount of tin or aluminum decorative
items that can be purchased to accent the furnishing of a
room.
Fifteenth Anniversary: Crystal
Well, now that you have hit this milestone things are starting
to get expensive. Luckily, there are many different types of
gifts that can be bought, which are made of crystal. These
include vases, decorative figurines and even jewelry. As well,
you can go with crystal wine glasses that will go well with the
wine you will toast to each other on the 15th wedding
anniversary.
Twentieth Anniversary: China
Two decades of matrimony bliss mean that you will be buying
china for your spouse. Instead of just going to the store and
picking up some typical china, order something from the country
itself. China doesn’t have to mean dishes; it can be an antique
Chinese vase or some other collectible.
Twenty-Fifth Anniversary: Silver
You have hit the quarter-century mark and now it is time to
pull out the big guns for your present. Silver is the gift of
choice for this year, so try and find some beautiful and
decorative silverware or a silver ring to mark the big day.
Silver can also be something that has been custom-made for you
to give to your spouse. It could be your faces in silver, or a
silver chalice with your names on it.
Silver is expensive, but after hitting the 25 year mark, can
you go any less?
Fiftieth Anniversary: Gold
The next big anniversary is the 50th, which means gold.
Luckily, there are plenty of beautiful items you can buy that
are made of gold. You can buy a ring or a pendant, or have a
bracelet made with a beautiful inscription. This anniversary
may be the most expensive, but it is also one of the easiest to
buy for, traditionally speaking.
No matter what you buy, if you go traditional there are
plenty of ideas out there for you to find a traditional
anniversary gift that will be a huge hit with your spouse.
